Cambridge Open Windows 2020 by Clare Crouchman

As all my shows and events have been cancelled over the last few months I decided to participate in Cambridge Open Windows.

Many artists around Cambridge will be displaying artwork in their windows for people to view and enjoy.

As well as putting some pieces in my front window I will also be opening my garden studio and having a Super Studio Sale.

However, you are welcome to come round the back and have a look round my studio where social distancing will be observed.

Many of the pieces will also be available in my Online Shop.

I will be open every weekend in July from 11 am - 6 pm and I look forward to seeing you.

Winter Open Studio 2019 by Clare Crouchman

Winter time …. cold in the studio but ….

Over the last few months I have been busy organising my new working life.

Although I have sold the majority of my ceramic wall panels and have had lots of studio visits from happy customers, I do still have some nice pieces left that can be seen in my online shop!

For my Winter Open Studio I will be selling the ceramic wall panels as well as the ceramic jewellery pendants.

Recently I have been ‘playing’ with new materials and am attracted to mixed media paintings. At this stage it is important not to put too much pressure on myself to ‘create’ finished pieces but to allow myself to connect with the creative process and try out different mediums. As a professional artist I found it was easy to fall into a very stressful way of working with deadlines and commissions always looming. I now realise that although I was happy with the results it meant my body began to suffer. A few years ago I experienced ‘burnout’ after a particularly busy period and have now taken steps to include relaxation and physical exercise into my routine and work with a more mindful mindset.

I have also set up Clare Crouchman Therapy and have started practicing as a Bowen Therapist which is a wonderful and relaxing therapy that complements the way I now work as an artist.

End of an Era.... by Clare Crouchman

What an amazing ‘End of an Era’ Open Studio!

After 25 years of making ceramic wall panels I have now stopped making them as I wish to pursue some different materials.

I opened my studio as part of Cambridge Open Studios during the first two weekends of July.

I had so many visitors and saw so many of my ceramic wall panels go off to new homes. Norway, Portugal, Germany and Aberdeen being the most far flung!

Thank you so much to everyone who I have met over the last 25 years who have supported me and my work.

If you couldn’t make it in person there are still some ceramic wall panels left and they are available from my Shop!

I will now be spending some time experimenting with new materials and creating some new work…….
